DH was VERY upset we missed the snow last weekend (what is wrong with this man?) but we had an excellent trip down to SC!!
puppy was giving us the silent treatment last night but it seems all is forgiven today. updates to come tomorrow, hopefully!

puppy the co-pilot
last weekend dave was away and i was heading down to CT. so puppy spent saturday night at auntie laura & uncle tri's house. usually we transport foster in dave's truck but since he was already away my car would have to do. well it turns out foster's crate does not fit in my trunk so i had to put it in the backseat, which means puppy was my co-pilot! i was a bit nervous and he was very fidgety but it was only a 30 minute drive so we survived!
in other news.....we're off to SC tomorrow for a mini vaca so puppies foster will be on hiatus next week. foster will be staying at club med for puppies, otherwise known as ken & beth's house, so i'm sure he won't even miss us. have a good week y'all!

opening day-UPDATE!
puppy retrieved 3 ducks this morning! although i heard there was some shaking and tossing of duck #3 up in the air in play, foster recovered and quickly brought the duckie back to daddy. sitting still in the same spot for 1hr resulted in some whining but overall he did a pretty good job out there on his first trip! daddy has a bit more work to do...
GOOD BOY FOSTER!!!!
GOOD BOY FOSTER!!!!
opening day
today is opening day of duck hunting season up here and puppy is on his maiden voyage on the rivers and streams of massachusetts (of course dave won't divulge where).
last weekend daddy picked up a neoprene vest for puppy to wear to keep him warm in the cold water while retrieving ducks. i wasn't home for the initial fitting but dave snapped a few pics of foster's reaction to having it on.....by the time i got home he was happily running around and fetching. such a handsome boy! hopefully things are going well out there today!

lost toys
we seemed to have somehow lost one of puppy's favorite toys (i realize i say this often, but he has several favorites), his nylabone. not sure if it's at someone's house or lost in our yard but it's been gone for some time now. so, while at target last week i picked a new one up (along with a doggie bed and his new duckie....yes i have issues).foster is very happy to have it back!toys also temporarily disappear under furniture from time to time too. i recently found his blue life is good ball and he was very pleased to see that one again too! he dropped it in his water bowl and there was some amount of difficulty getting it out! after just about all the water was splashed out onto the floor the ball was retrieved. ahhh the life of a brown bear cub...

fall harvest
i'm closing out the week with a gardening update. i know you're all thrilled.
i am happy to conclude (if i haven't already) that the $1.25 i spent on a 6-pack of slicing cucumber plants on 4th of july weekend was money well spent! i just picked my third good sized cuke the other day... and there's at least 1 or 2 more still growing!
i also am finally reaping the rewards of the striped german heirloom tomato plant too! i just picked these 2 big ones and there's still 2 left growing. we'll see if they make it before the frost.
ever wondered what 40-something spring flower bulbs look like? i spent ~ 4hrs last saturday planting tulips, daffodils, crocuses and hyacinth bulbs around the driveway and mailbox. we'll see next spring if i planted them at the correct depth!
i leave you with a few pics of the nightly lovefest that goes on between dave & foster on the kitchen floor. have a good weekend everyone!!

duckie!!
mommy cannot be trusted when left alone on a shopping trip to target. especially when it comes to this puppy! i see fun toys and i think he'll like them! this dog is like a toddler....we actually have to put his toys on rotation, he has so many he loves. i guess that's mostly my fault but i don't care!
anyhoo, while at target shopping for the aforementioned doggie bed for the bedroom i saw this ducky and i simply couldn't resist getting it for foster. i justified it to DH under the pretense that it would be useful for his training! (insert evil laugh here) it's actually a slingshot duckie! you put your thumb in the bill then the rope pulls out like a bungee and away it goes! it floats and has squeakers in the wings! what could be better? plus it's made with a more durable nylon material so it can't be torn to shreads in a minute.foster is in a word: OBSESSED with this new toy. he absolutely LOVES it! the mere mention of the word "duckie" gets him excited! i continue to attest that i am the worlds best doggie mommy.
